Position Statement on Corridor Care

Healthcare Inspectorate Wales (HIW) recognises the serious challenges posed by corridor care in hospitals across Wales. This practice can compromise patient safety, dignity, and the overall quality of care. Corridor care should not be normalised.

Improvements noted at Ysbyty Cwm Cynon’s Dementia Care Unit

Healthcare Inspectorate Wales (HIW) has released a report following an unannounced inspection of a specialist mental health ward at Ysbyty Cwm Cynon in Rhondda Cynon Taf. Part of Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board, Ward 7 is a 14-bed unit providing dementia care. The inspection took place over three consecutive days in January 2025.
