Healthcare Inspectorate Wales (HIW) has published a report following an inspection of Caswell Clinic, a medium secure mental health service in Bridgend, managed by Swansea Bay University Health Board. The clinic is based within Glanrhyd Hospital, where the wider estate is owned by Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. The inspection focused on the quality and safety of care provided to patients, and how well the service supports dignity, safety and therapeutic recovery.

Following a recent criminal investigation, Healthcare Inspectorate Wales (HIW) has issued a caution to the provider for breach of the Care Standards Act 2000 (the Act). It follows evidence of the service providing aesthetic laser treatments at a clinic in the County of Flintshire without registration under that Act.

Healthcare Inspectorate Wales (HIW) has published its findings following an inspection of maternity services at Singleton Hospital, managed by Swansea Bay University Health Board. The inspection took place over three days in February 2026 and focused on the quality, safety and experience of care provided to women, babies and families across maternity services. The inspection team identified clear and consistent progress since previous inspections. However, they also noted concerns regarding the timeliness of care provided to women on the postnatal ward, as well as the pressures experienced by staff throughout the service.
