This is our first annual report on regulatory activities in Wales in relation to IR(ME)R.
We are responsible for monitoring compliance with the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations (IRMER) to ensure that patients are protected when having treatment that requires exposure to ionising radiation.
We do this by assessing and inspecting clinical departments that use ionising radiation. We also review reported incidents where patients have been exposed to a greater amount of radiation than intended.
Our annual report details our findings from our IR(ME)R inspections over the last year and the cases we reviewed when patients had been exposed to a greater amount of Ionising Radiation than required.
