Local Supervising Authority for Midwives Annual Report 2008-09

Healthcare Inspectorate Wales (HIW) will today publish (1 October 2009) the Local Supervising Authority (LSA).
HIW has responsibility for the statutory supervision of all midwives practising in Wales. HIW took on the role of the Local Supervising Authority under the Government of Wales Act 2006. The LSA is required by the Nursing and Midwifery Council to publish an annual report detailing the ways in which it has met the standards set by the NMC in the reporting year.
The LSA 2008/09 Annual Report also highlights a number of areas of good practice, confirms there is evidence of effective networking and sharing of good practice between Supervisors of midwives in Wales, as well as a firm commitment to an all-Wales approach to achieving standards.
