Healthcare Inspectorate Wales publishes the 2008-09 Healthcare Standards Reports for every NHS Trust and Local Health Board in Wales and Health Commission Wales
Wednesday, 9 September 2009
Healthcare Inspectorate Wales (HIW) today (Wednesday 9 September) publishes the 2008-09 Healthcare Standards Reports for every NHS Trust, Local Health Boards and Health Commission Wales.
Since 2007, healthcare organisations in Wales have been required to submit annual self assessment returns to HIW to show how they are performing against the 32 healthcare standards published by the Welsh Assembly Government in May 2005. The aim of the standards is to ensure the provision of effective, timely and quality services in all healthcare settings across Wales.
Following an evaluation of the self assessment returns provided by Health Commission Wales and all NHS Trusts and Local Health Boards in Wales, individual reports have been produced by HIW.
Organisations have once again prepared Improvement Plans in response to this year’s assessment and these will be carried forward as part of the new organisational arrangements for the NHS in Wales that come into effect on 1 October.
The findings from this year’s assessment will also be incorporated into further reports that HIW will be publishing this autumn including its Annual Report for 2008-09 which will set out a summary of the key issues and themes from this year’s assessment.
Further media briefing will be provided in due course.
